Thanks to Ginger Powder’s usefulness in both sweet to savory food, the possibilities for ginger are wide open. It is ubiquitous to both Thai and Indian cooking, so pick a curry—any curry—and start with ginger at the base. Ginger has a bracing flavor profile so it can stand up to fattier meats like chicken thighs or duck. Carrots love ginger, so toss some carrots in Ginger Powder and roast. You can’t make pumpkin pie without ginger, and the holidays would not be complete without gingerbread houses, ginger snaps and—of course—gingerbread men, perhaps made a little less extravagantly.
1 tablespoon of fresh ginger is roughly equal to 1/8 teaspoon of ground ginger but we do not recommend substituting fresh ginger in any recipe calling for dried ground ginger (or vice versa) as they have two very distinct flavor profiles.
